🚀 Getting Started

Download & Install

1. Download the App

   Get Knooty from the App Store. Search for "Knooty Kids" for kids or "Knooty Parent" for parents, or use the links on our homepage.

2. Install

   Tap "Get" or "Install" and wait for the download to complete. The app is free with no in-app purchases.

3. Open the App

   Look for the Knooty icon on your device and tap to open.

System Requirements

• iOS 13.0 or later
• Compatible with iPhone and iPad
• Internet connection required
• Approximately 50MB of storage space

Creating Your Account

1. Open the Parent App

   Launch the Knooty Parent app on your device.

2. Enter Your Phone Number

   Type your phone number including country code. This will be used for authentication.

3. Verify with Code

   You'll receive an SMS with a verification code. Enter it to complete setup.

4. Complete Your Profile

   Add your name and other details to personalize your account.

Adding Your Kids

1. Tap "Add Child"

   From your dashboard, find the "Add Child" button.

2. Enter Child's Information

   Provide their name, age, and create a unique 6-digit passcode they'll use to login.

3. Set Starting Balance

   Choose how much virtual money your child starts with (typically $100-$5,000).

4. Share Login Info

   Give your child the passcode. They'll use your phone number + their passcode to login.

Monitoring Progress

As a parent, you can:

• View all your children's portfolios in one place
• See a family leaderboard showing who's performing best
• Review transaction history for each child
• Track which lessons they've completed
• View achievements they've earned
• Add or remove funds from their virtual accounts

Parental Controls

• Budget Limits: Set maximum amounts for individual trades
• Account Balance: Adjust starting balance or add/remove funds
• Trading Permissions: Enable or disable trading for specific children
• Learning Requirements: Require lesson completion before trading

🎓 Kid Guide

Logging In

1. Open the Kid App

   Launch the Knooty Kids app on your device.

2. Enter Parent's Phone Number

   Type the phone number your parent used when signing up.

3. Enter Your Passcode

   Type the 6-digit passcode your parent created for you.

4. Start Learning!

   You're in! Time to start building your portfolio.

Your Dashboard

When you first login, you'll see:

• Portfolio Value: Total worth of all your investments
• Today's Change: How much you gained or lost today
• Performance Chart: Visual graph of your portfolio over time
• Your Holdings: List of stocks you own
• Quick Actions: Buttons to trade, learn, or view achievements

Navigating the App

The app has five main sections:

• Dashboard: Your home base with portfolio overview
• Trade: Buy and sell stocks
• Learn: Interactive lessons about investing
• Achievements: Badges you've earned
• History: All your past transactions

📈 Trading Stocks

How to Buy Stocks

1. Go to Trade Screen

   Tap the "Trade" button from your dashboard.

2. Search for a Stock

   Use the search bar to find companies. Try "Apple" or "AAPL".

3. Review Stock Details

   Look at the current price, chart, and company information.

4. Enter Amount

   Type how many dollars you want to invest (fractional shares supported!).

5. Confirm Purchase

   Review the details and tap "Buy Now" to complete the trade.

How to Sell Stocks

1. Go to Portfolio

   View your current holdings.

2. Select a Stock

   Tap on the stock you want to sell.

3. Choose Amount

   Decide how much to sell (partial sales allowed).

4. Confirm Sale

   Review and tap "Sell Now" to complete.

Trading Tips

• Diversify: Don't put all your money in one stock
• Research First: Learn about companies before investing
• Think Long-Term: Good investments grow over time
• Stay Patient: Prices go up and down - that's normal
• Learn from Mistakes: Use losses as learning opportunities

💼 Managing Your Portfolio

Understanding Your Portfolio

Your portfolio shows:

• Total Value: Current worth of all your investments + cash
• Total Gain/Loss: How much you've gained or lost overall
• Percentage Change: Performance compared to your starting balance
• Individual Holdings: Each stock you own with current value
• Cash Balance: Money available to invest

Performance Tracking

Track your success with:

• Line Charts: Visual representation of portfolio value over time
• Time Periods: View 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, or all-time performance
• S&P 500 Comparison: See how you're doing vs. the market
• Best/Worst Performers: Identify which stocks are helping or hurting

Transaction History

Every trade is recorded with:

• Date and time of transaction
• Stock symbol and company name
• Number of shares traded
• Price per share
• Total transaction amount
• Buy or sell indicator

What Are Achievements?

Achievements are badges you earn for reaching milestones and making smart decisions. They help you track your progress and celebrate your successes!

🔧 Troubleshooting

Common Issues

Can't Log In

• Double-check phone number format (include country code)
• Verify passcode with your parent
• Make sure you have internet connection
• Try restarting the app

Prices Not Updating

• Check your internet connection
• Remember: Markets are closed on weekends and holidays
• Pull down to refresh the screen
• Wait a few seconds for data to load

Trade Won't Complete

• Ensure you have enough cash balance
• Check that you entered a valid amount
• Verify the stock symbol is correct
• Try trading during market hours

App Crashes or Freezes

• Close and restart the app
• Check for app updates in the App Store
• Restart your device
• Clear app cache in device settings
